Initiative Musik: Kickstart nach Neustart – Karriereaufbau & Förderung 3.0 / DE

NEUSTART KULTUR ermöglichte es, unter den erschwerten Bedingungen der Pandemie dennoch einen vergleichsweise einfacheren, da finanziell abgesicherten Einstieg in das Abenteuer Musikwirtschaft zu schaffen. Nun sind die Töpfe des Rettungsprogramms endgültig geleert, und wir stehen vor deutlich größeren Herausforderungen. Wie kann ich als Nachwuchskünstler:in dennoch einen Plan schmieden, um auf die Bühnen zu kommen und ein Publikum zu erreichen?

Darüber sprechen wir mit Künstler:innen, die dafür ihren eigenen Weg gefunden haben, und wie Förderung – wenn die Töpfe wieder kleiner und schwerer zu erreichen sind – dafür einen zusätzlichen Anschub geben kann.

Michael Wallies (Initiative Musik)
Michael Wallies ist seit 2012 bei der Initiative Musik tätig. Dort leitet der Medien- und Politikwissenschaftler (M.A.) seit 2019 die Presse- und Öffentlichkeitsarbeit. Als freier Journalist veröffentlichte er davor u.a. bei DE:BUG, Kreuzer Leipzig und der Leipziger Volkszeitung Texte und Specials zu popkulturellen Themen. Darüber hinaus war er vor seiner Tätigkeit bei der Initiative Musik als Radiomacher, Veranstalter und DJ vor allem in Leipzig aktiv – aber auch bei internationalen Festivals wie TodaysArt Den Haag, Paysages Electroniques Lille oder Sperm Festival Prag.

Mario Cetti (Gastjuror Künstler:innenförderung, Labelbetreiber)
Neben seiner Jurytätigkeit bei der Initiative Musik arbeitet Mario Cetti als Agent, Label und Management für Bands wie Käptn Peng & Die Tentakel von Delphi, Gisbert zu Knyphausen, Die Höchste Eisenbahn, lilly among clouds, Pablo Brooks oder Woods of Birnam. 1979 geboren, Studium der Kommunikationswissenschaft/Journalismus in Dresden und anschließend für diverse Medien tätig. Seit 2009 ist er selbständig als Geschäftsführer der Künstleragentur K&F Artists (Kumpels and Friends) (vorwiegend Booking & Managament). 2011 folgte die Gründung der Plattenfirma Kreismusik GmbH & Co KG um den Berliner Rapper Käptn Peng, bei der er auch Mitgesellschafter ist. Mario Cetti lebt und arbeitet in Dresden.

Nalan Karacagil (Musikerin)
Die Musikerin Nalan – die zuvor schon als slimgirl fat eine EP veröffentlicht hat, als Sängerin der Gaddafi Gals mehrere Alben, und nebenbei als Teil des DJ-Kollektivs SLIC Unit die Dancefloors zum Beben bringt – lebt und arbeitet in Berlin. Im Dezember 2021 erschien ihr Debütalbum “I’m Good. The Crying Tape” (Mansions & Millions, 3-Headed Monster Posse) mit dem sie im April 2023 auf Solo-Tour ging.

LIN (Musikerin)
5 in 1. Drums, Synthesizer, Gitarre, Bass und Vocals. LIN ist mehr als eine Solokünstler*in, LIN ist eine Soloband. Aus Fußschaltern, Kabeln, Loop-Station und Instrumenten hat sie sich ein Cockpit für Konzerte gebaut, mit dem sie einen Sound kreiert, der genretechnisch zwischen Elektro- und Popsphäre navigiert. Vielschichtig, detailreich und intensiv. Die englischsprachigen Songs sind nicht nur tanzbar, sondern auch ausdrücklich politisch. In ihren Texten inszeniert die queere Künstler*in eine Welt, in der gesellschaftlich gemachte Normen aufgebrochen und neu gesetzt werden. „We need new norms“ fordert LIN. Bei ihren Liveshows reißt sie das Publikum förmlich mit, wie der Impuls einer Kugelwelle, bei der sich die Energie in immer größeren Kreisen ausbreitet.

Daniel Pittner (Projektbetreuer Künstler:innenförderung, Initiative Musik)
Projektbetreuer in der Künstler:innenförderung seit August 2021 und mittlerweile knapp 400 Projekte betreut. Davor viele Jahre sowohl bei Labels als auch bei Verlagen tätig. Musikfanatisch seit 1979.

 
 
Kickstart after Neustart – Career Building & Funding 3.0
Under the difficult conditions of the pandemic, NEUSTART KULTUR made it possible to have a relatively easier entry into the music industry by offering some financial support. Now the pots of the rescue programme are finally emptied, and we are facing much greater challenges. As an emerging artist, how can I still make a plan to get on stage and reach an audience?

We will talk about this with artists who have found their own way to forge ahead and how funding – although the pots are smaller and less accessible – can give them a boost.

Michael Wallies (Initiative Musik)
Michael Wallies has been working at the Initiative Musik since 2012. There, the media and political scientist (M.A.) has been head of press and public relations since 2019. As a freelance journalist, he previously published texts and specials on pop culture topics at DE:BUG, Kreuzer Leipzig and the Leipziger Volkszeitung, among others. Before joining the Initiative Musik, he was active as a radio producer, organiser and DJ, mainly in Leipzig, but also at international festivals such as TodaysArt Den Haag, Paysages Electroniques Lille and Sperm Festival Prague.

In addition to his jury work for the Initiative Musik, Mario Cetti works as an agent, label and management for bands such as Käptn Peng & Die Tentakel von Delphi, Gisbert zu Knyphausen, Die Höchste Eisenbahn, lilly among clouds, Pablo Brooks or Woods of Birnam. Born in 1979, studied communication science/journalism in Dresden and then worked for various media. Since 2009 he has been self-employed as managing director of the artist agency K&F Artists (Kumpels and Friends) (mainly booking & management). In 2011, he founded the record company Kreismusik GmbH & Co KG around the Berlin rapper Käptn Peng, where he is also a co-partner. Mario Cetti lives and works in Dresden.

Nalan Karacagil (Musician)
The musician Nalan – who has previously released an EP as slimgirl fat, several albums as the singer of the Gaddafi Gals, and on the side makes the dancefloors shake as part of the DJ collective SLIC Unit – lives and works in Berlin. In December 2021, she released her debut album “I’m Good. The Crying Tape” (Mansions & Millions, 3-Headed Monster Posse) with which she went on solo tour in April 2023.

LIN (musician)
5 in 1. Drums, synthesizer, guitar, bass and vocals. LIN is more than a solo artist, LIN is a solo band. She has built a cockpit for concerts out of foot switches, cables, loop stations and instruments, with which she creates a sound that navigates genre-wise between electro and pop spheres. Multi-layered, rich in detail and intense. The English-language songs are not only danceable, but also explicitly political. In her lyrics, the queer artist stages a world in which socially constructed norms are broken down and set anew. LIN demands “We need new norms”, and at her live shows she literally sweeps the audience along, like the momentum of a spherical wave in which the energy spreads in ever larger circles.
